白人は容赦なく、いつも一方的に、インディアンとの条約を廃棄してきた。
わしが子供の頃、スー族は世界を治めていた。
スー族の大地に、太陽は昇り、沈んでいた。
スー族は、一万人もの男たちを、戦いに動員することが出来た。
あの戦士たちは、一体どこへ行ってしまったのか。
誰が、あの戦士たちを虐殺したのか。
わしらの土地は今どこにあるのか。
誰が、わしらの土地を所有しているのだろうか。
土地やわずかな金を、わしが白人から盗んだ、
などと言える白人がいるか。いるはずがない。
それなのに、彼らは、わしを盗人（ぬすっと）呼ばわりするのだ。
一人暮らしの女も含めて、わしが かどわかし陵辱（りょうじょく）した
などという、白人の女がいるだろうか？いるはずがないではないか。
それなのに、彼らは、わしのことを、悪いインディアンだとわめくのだ。
わしが酔っ払っているところを見た白人などが、いるだろうか？
腹をへらしてわしの所へやって来て、空腹のまま帰った、
などと言い散らしているのは誰だ。
わしが女を殴ったり、子供をいじめているのを見た、
などと言っているのは誰だ。
一体どんな法を、わしが侵したというのだ。
自分の法を愛することは、間違ったことか。
わしが悪いのは、肌が赤いからか。
わしがスー族だからか。
父親が生まれた土地で、わしが生まれたからか。
わしの民とわしの国のために、わしがいつでも死ぬ覚悟をしているからか。

WASHINGTON - A group of "freedom-loving" Lakota activists announced a plan Wednesday for their people to withdraw from treaties their forefathers signed with the U.S. government.
The new nation is needed because Indians have been "dismissed" by the United States and are tired of living under a colonial apartheid system, Means said during a news conference held at Plymouth Congregational Church in northeast Washington.
"I want to emphasize, we do not represent the collaborators, the Vichy Indians and those tribal governments set up by the United States of America to ensure our poverty, to ensure the theft of our land and resources," Means said, comparing elected tribal governments to Nazi collaborators in France during World War II.

"We have sent all the documents they presented to the embassy to our ministry of foreign affairs in Bolivia and they'll analyze everything."
